The Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) and Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) are leading statewide initiatives to prioritize the health and well-being of older adults, ensuring that healthy aging remains a central focus for health programs and organizations at the state, regional, and local levels. By leveraging the resources and expertise of Trust for America’s Health (TFAH), aging sector and Tennessee’s Age-Friendly Ecosystem partners and Mississippi's Age-Friendly Ecosystem partners, TDH and MSDH have successfully highlighted existing programs that support older adults while fostering strategic partnerships to enhance public health organizations’ ability to reach and serve this vital demographic. Emphasizing a “life-course” approach, TDH and MSDH recognize aging as a continuous process, identifying key intervention points to promote healthy aging and actively engage older adults in public health efforts. The establishment of the Office of Healthy Aging underscores TDH's and MSDH's commitment to ensuring that all individuals have the opportunity to age in place, enjoy a high quality of life, and access the services and support they need within their communities. Through collaboration with diverse partners, TDH and MSDH are advancing this vision and continue to build strong relationships to propel Tennessee’s Age-Friendly Ecosystem and Mississippi's Age -Friendly Ecosystem forward.
