In the first (1982) issue of the Journal of Applied Gerontology, Dr. Barbara Payne explained the importance of a life review in an organization’s development. She stated that this review should occur at benchmarks in the life of the organization. With the development of this handbook for the Southern Gerontological Society, the organization has reached a new benchmark and level of maturity.<\/p>

In this manual, the roles and responsibilities of the major and minor participants in the Society are clearly delineated and made available to the most important part of this organization \u2013 the membership. Additionally, the history of the organization (adapted from Dr. Payne’s article) is reviewed for the membership.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
