We wanted to share the statement with those who were unable to attend.<\/p><p>At the Southern Gerontological Society (SGS), we are committed to advancing research, education, and practice to enhance the lives of older adults and all who care for them. As a collegial organization, we are committed to fostering a supportive environment where researchers, practitioners, educators, advocates and older adults are welcomed to collaborate, present their work, and ultimately bridge gerontological education, research, and practice.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4ace4b5 elementor-widget-divider--view-line elementor-widget elementor-widget-divider\" data-id=\"4ace4b5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"divider.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-divider\">\n\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-divider-separator\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e997f59 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"e997f59\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Our Commitment to Aging in the South<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ca791ca elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ca791ca\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>SGS envisions a future where older adults and those who care for them thrive. Our work is grounded in scientific inquiry and evidence-based decision-making. It is from that lens that we educate, elevate, and champion on policies, practices and research that improves the collective well-being of older adults.<\/p><p>Aging in the Southern United States presents unique cultural, economic, and environmental challenges. SGS prioritizes region-specific research, education, and practice, ensuring that aging-related policies and services reflect the distinct needs of Southern communities. By fostering continued research, education, and dialogue, we help shape programs and systems that strengthen the safety net for older adults in the region and beyond.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bc1dccd elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"bc1dccd\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Bridging Aging Research and Practice<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-670e877 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"670e877\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Collaboration is at the heart of SGS.
